Introduction to the Course: 

Project management has emerged as a discipline whose knowledge is essential for those handling important tasks in various fields. This course explains the basic aspects of a project and project management including frameworks, tools and techniques of project management. This course further goes to develop foundation of concepts and solutions that supports the planning, scheduling, controlling, resource allocation, and performance measurement activities required for successful completion of a project.

Course Objectives: 

  1. To introduce to Students the fundamental principles of project management and apply project management methodologies, processes, and tools to execute complex projects in organizations.
  2. To enable students to examine the role that project management plays in accomplishing an organization’s strategic objectives. 
  3. To help students to understand project risk concepts and critique the impacts of schedule, cost, and scope elements in projects, and analyze different techniques for managing risks.
  4. To encourage Students to learn and apply elemental basics of project management to their work and create action plans for mini projects.
  5. To help students to use standard project management tools and techniques to create project Charters,  Scope statements, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Project Network Diagrams, and Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM).
  6. To provide students with hands on skill development practice in MS Project tool.
